"Mobility" means the more or less regular change of place while maintaining the place of residence.
Mobility arises from the fact that certain activities are (have to be) taken care of out of home. This is how mobility can be traced back to individual requirements during its development. The overcoming of space is principally not dependent on any means of transport, the possibility of mobility is determined by individual, social, spatial and temporal conditions (fundamentals); traffic participation can be defined as a change of place, which is referred to as "trip".
To determine mobility behaviour, Socialdata has used the approved and continually improved KONTIV® design for decades. It is a mail-out household survey with telephone support and the use of diaries.
Socialdata has developed an explanatory model (situational approach) with the help of which individual reasons for mode choice can be understood and potentials for behaviour change can be assessed. The empirical fundamental principles are conducted in in-depth interviews in the household, the basis of which is the realised mobility behaviour.
